| Re: Trying to pick a POD Publisher...HELP! The edit is done, the cover is done, the ARC's (advanced reader copies) are being sent out. So far everything's going pretty well, except that my book's estimated price is fourteen dollars. Their books are nine and ten dollars and a lot more pages. The real test is who's willing to review their books (and of course how much it sells) so we'll see. |

You read through it and quickly realize they don't really know what POD is. They are confusing a printing technology with business plans and make an equation of POD with vanity and scam publishing that is by no means valid. Their "issues to consider" section here is a joke. They continually talk about contracts and business practices as being a function of POD. I was pretty shocked that the sfwa would put together such a shoddy, prejudicial, and ignorant document, frankly. If anybody here is in a position to do so, they should contact them and ask them to consider rewriting or replacing this thing. What they have here is disinformation that does more harm than good. | |
