Try Paul Kearney's The Ten Thousand. It is less complex than Erikson, but it is military low fantasy, set in a Hellenic-type age (ancient Greece, pre-Rome). Erikson really digs Kearney, so you might like him too. I'm about half way through, and I really quite like it. |
