Re: Diana Gabaldon I started reading the Clare and Jamie novels, but by half way through the fifth on I just started wishing someone would come along and slaughter them in the night, or they would catch plague, or drown, or get scalped by indians. Really, talk about dragging it out - and now there are 2 more books! Save us.

Re: Diana Gabaldon Well, if you aren't hooked by the fifth, I'm not sure if you'll ever be, but I'd encourage you to keep going. They really are amazing books. It may not be your genre though.

Re: Diana Gabaldon I adore the first four volumes of the Outlanders series. I was a bit annoyed reading 'The Fiery Cross" and I was not able to finish "A Breath of snow and ashes" yet . Maybe because it took too long to have the last one on shelves and I really don't want to know how Jamie and Claire die. And I must admit, I read several times the first volumes. Diana Gabaldon is definetely one of my favorite authors. Her books are difficult to classify by gendre, as you can find a mix of historical fiction, romantic and a bit of science fiction (the time travel part).

Re: Diana Gabaldon Actually I have recently read that there will be 8 or maybe even 9 of these tomes. So Claire and Jamie are not going to die for a while. But by the middle of the 5th one I was really rooting for the king's men just to slaughter the lot of them. Pity they missed their opportunity at Culloden

Re: Diana Gabaldon I don't know why, but Bree didn't impress me at all. Hi Esioul, I had the same problem with another book another author (Marie Laberge, québécoise). I believe, our emotional state counts too when we read something. Sometimes we connect, sometimes we don't.

Re: Diana Gabaldon *Jumps, dances, and generally wriggles a lot* 7th book coming out September 2009!!!!! I'm excited, but somewhat annoyed. I can't wait that long! It's called An Echo in the Bone. Already I love the title. Must. Read. Book!
