The full Burton Nights set is either 16 or 17 volumes in length (I've seen both). The original that was offered through subscription only was, I believe, 17 volumes. It takes up at least the majority of a good-sized shelf, and the first three volumes (as I recall, no longer having my copy) make up nearly 1000 pages.... It's a magnificent work, though, and if I can ever lay my hands on another set.......
