Re: Emotions of writing?

When I write, I usually incorporate a lot of the emotions into the characters, whilst rarely feeling much open emotion myself. Deep within, there is always a feeling of saddness- say, if one of the characters was dying, but by pouring that into your own words it becomes fuel, and creates an even more emotive piece.

Although, for me, it's less a case of tears and more like a really strong sense of drive, determination and grit. I find myself getting tense and frowning a lot because of that.
I tend to dwell on my characters that experience a fierce trial, and a full orchestra blasts through my head when I imagine them fighting their way through the climax; similar to what you've described here I guess.

Whilst it's good in that it really helps me to chew over the characters and think carefully about how they react in different situations, I also see this as a bit of a disadvantage - it makes it even harder to step back and be objective about your work. I have whole scenarios playing out in my mind's eye but I often wonder if it bears any resemblance to the words on the page.
Yeah I get that.
