| Re: Star Trek: Babylon 5 Cute idea but seriously: the fundamental zeitgeists of both universes don't mix. Star Trek's universe is idealistic. People solve problems with words. Earth is at peace internally. Everything is squeaky-clean. Technology solves all. Feh.
B5's universe is messy, constantly warring, basically Yugoslavia apres-Tito writ large, as the former Yugoslavian babe actress who played Delenn once observed. And Earth is the primitives in all this--the ones whose spaceships needed centrifuges for gravity, instead of the benign quasioverlords of all but the Q (well, and the Borg).
FWIW the B5 universe is a lot closer to how things would turn out if FTL drives were possible. |
