Am one of those who is having way more fun with Darren Shan than I ever did with Harry Potter. With Shan's books I want to read them because I want to read them and not because I want to complete reading a set of books.
Yes, the writing is 'young' at times but then again the books are not targeted at adults anyway. His characters are a wonderful bunch and he knows how to tell a story.
And yes, the gap between the books is a downer. I'm an adult and I get impatient. I'd imagine it would be worse for young people. |
