Re: Where's my cow?

I agree - I loved it! So many subtle jokes, hidden in a seemingly innocent kids book. And brilliantly illustrated too...

Re: Where's my cow?

Finally got a copy along with Thud at a book sale.

Oh my ... had me falling over laughing. And can be read on so many levels too. Two paws up, definitely.

Re: Where's my cow?

Really? I though it was just a "squeeze the cash out of the readers" or a kids book. Now I'll have to buy it

Re: Where's my cow?

It's not a kid's book, it's a book for pratchett fans who have read Thud. I thought it was hilarious, probably "squeeze the cash out of readers", but brilliant marketing and it was worth it's money, i thought. I loved so so much when Rob Anybody was reading "Where's me coo" at the end of Wintersmith...

It is both, actually. It's basically a spinoff, advertised in Thud! and Wintersmith, and with various in-jokes on the cover, including the "OOK!" certificate of the Unseen University Library. The book itself is nice; very good paintings, but then again also very short. Not really proportional to the rather stiff price.

I don't know how much of a kids' book it really is, either. I mean, it functions like a kids' book, but is it being sold as a kids' book? Is it being sold among other kids' books in ordinary stores that don't necessarily carry all the other Pratchett books?

I love Discworld and the other Pratchett novels, but sometimes I think the spin-off gets a little over the top. Pratchett certainly should be successful enough to do without it.

Re: Where's my cow?

If he didn't write it, one of his fans would. he didn't even get to write the hedgehog song

I love it when kid's books are for adults as well - it's just like going to the pantomime - all those double entendres. So, must get myself a copy.
