| Christian Jaques A few years back, i read a five book series by Christian Jaques about the life of Ramses II. I cant remember all the titles but one was called Under the western acacia and one (the final one i think) was called the Battle at Kadesh. A couple of years later i found another couple of his books which i also enjoyed about the hidden town in ancient Egypt where the builders of Pharoe's tomb lived and worked. I'm sure there was only 2 books in this series but i cant remember the titles. I wondered if anyone could tell me the titles of the Ramses books and the other ones as i would very much like to read them again. Also if anyone knows any more of his work i would like to hear about it. Cheers! |

| Re: Christian Jaques I confess I found Christian Jacq somewhat dry - I don't think the translation did anything for the story. Perhaps it was just me but I simply couldn't get into it - I had bought all the books in the series in a special offer at one time because I loved the premise of the book but for me the books simply failed to deliver. I do however think that it was due to the translated version I read but I'm not quite up to reading all five books in French. |

if you want to find alle books of Christian Jacq! you may try google. But you have to use the correct name of him. I was also searching with the incorrect one. But due to the fact that I already read a couple of books of him it was easier for me to find him again. The series of four books you mentioned in your post is edited under the name "The stone of light". The books are called "Nefer the Silent", "The Wise Woman", "Paneb the Ardent" and "The Place of Truth". I already read Nefer the Silent, Paneb the Ardent and The Place of truth. Additionally I can recommend "The long way to Egypt" and "The ban of the Pharao" (an authentic story of Howard Carter as he searched and found the tomb of Tutenchamun). They are really worth it. fleudi | |

| Re: Christian Jaques I first read Christian Jacq when a friend gave me the Ramses books as a gift. I devoured them over a couple of days without sleeping. They are well researched and well written and bring that period of time alive with all the small details and descriptions. 1. The Son of Light 2. The Temple of a Million Years or The Eternal Temple 3. The Battle of Kadesh 4. The Lady of Abu Simbel 5. Under the Western Acacia Early this year I was the Stone of Light series. The books are about a stone which can turn barley into gold and matter into light. I've not read them yet but am quite looking forward to doing so. 1. Nefer the Silent 2. The Wise Woman 3. Paneb the Ardent 4. The Place of Truth |
