I don't know.

I don't really want to try to kill him off and I don't want to go into the story with that mindset because the last story I wrote, I did and I screwed up the ending horribly. If it feels right to kill him with that "saving" the fantasy world and killing him well thats what I'll do. I don't have to kill him though I guess to get him to snap out of it.

I'm thinking I will give him times where, once he is addicted, he will have withdrawls and do some crazy stuff to himself and others.
