Personal opinion but just be careful Maj if you're planning on writing any sort of a 'he woke up and it was all a dream' type story, this has been done before and often very badly. If he goes on a journey have him go on it and know it's real or very quickly know when he wakes up that it was drug induced hallucinations.
I mean it can work really well, I wasn't the biggest fan of the Thomas Covenant series but I did like how Donaldson set up Covenant moving between the two worlds. So it can work and like I said it's personal opinion but any sort of 'he/she woke up and it was all a dream' storyline tends to bug me
