I think the media and the stores have spoilt the hysteria around the release of the Harry Potter books. Making adults and kids think that they need to buy the book. I wonder how much they saved on advertising though, with all these TV & radio shows plugging it for free.
Although, I have to admit, this has helped create a bit of a price war which keeps the prices low. £16.99 RRP for the half blood prince but being sold for £5 in some supermarkets and £8 in some book stores has to be good for the consumer.
If only this would happen with other books such as GRRMs' Feast for crows. Not bloody likely though. £13.29 from amazon.
