This is a really hard choice for me. Throughout the first book my favourite character was Eddard truly
Then I suppose it was Jon, carrying the torch where his "father" left off I guess, filling the role of the strong and honourable leader of sorts.
But truly my favourite character now has to be Sandor Clegane. I sympathize with him and I have to believe he's alive. I don't know what it is exactly.
