| Re: April's Astonishing, Astounding (and Sometimes Overpowering) Adventures in Readin I finished Black House by Paul Theroux, which is a nominal ghost story mixed with the John Banville style existentialism writing. The story is a about an opinionated anthropologist and his wife who return from Africa after a 10-year stay and put up in an archetypal haunted English home in a none-too-friendly village. I wouldn't say it's some brilliant achievement but it IS well-written and reasonably engaging in most parts. |
