| Re: Terms of Use I have to agree with the non use of 'text messaging' in our Forums. I use it occassionaly on my mobile but certainly not here. Using the correct spelling of words in our posts helps to encourage our literary skills. Regarding the use of other languages in our 'posts' - yes I do use the occassional Flemish word in the Tea Room but it is certainly not meant as a secret message! I don't feel that the use of other languages, as a greeting especially, is wrong. |

| Re: Terms of Use My take on the use of terms in different languages (or entire messages, on occasion) is that there shouldn't be any problem with that, unless there's something objectionable in the message itself. |

wooohooo! On the subject of writing in words; I was part of a list-server dialogue group, and someone showed up who wanted to make up words and their new meanings, substitute the letter b for p and use a string of these misspelled words in long sentences. It started in fun, but keeping it up made the group split in half. So some of us started a moderated group of our own, specifying English, and now the same guy shows up under another name, having lost the rest of the people he took away to play with him. But he mostly writes in English, so we let him stay and he refers to himself as the "bot." There's always someone who show up to these places on the internet and wants to imply they're the foremost authority with weird ideas on the subject of the site. The new members seem to have to get by their gatekeeping obcessions if it's not a big forum as this one is. What is the human nature that makes this happen? Thank GAWD this forum is so large that these sorts of people can't dominate it! Thanks Brian for all your work on this. I hope the new merge doesn't overwhelm you...and your house payments. Hey, I lost half my posts too and I hardly had any... Boooooo! | |

| Re: Terms of Use Gosh, thanks, Brian. You always have been such a polite guy. I do like to drop in from time to time.I now am in a real place to live, (...as opposed to a caravan, as you guys call it,) and have regular internet access! ![]() Hey - I just figured out the little green dot in the corner means I'm on this site now. Amazing what you notice. |
