I can't be bothered with that official website - it takes FOREVER to load.

Just watched the second part of this and it was OK> I agree that David Jason was a bit old (but note he was Executive Producer so obviously would cast himself). I see him and Twoflower as being the same age. And I thought it was OK to make the First Tourist American - I mean it's no more and no less stereotyped than making him Japanese.

I didn't like the mask for Death or the orang-utan Librarian much. But I did like the luggage.

I think the trouble is that the later books are so much stronger, with Unseen University so much more fully conceived and all the stuff we know about Ridcully and the Bursar etc (not to mention good old Windle Poons). Plus all the stuff about the three witches and the City Watch.

So returning to these first two it seems a bit thin. And the ending was pathetic - both the prolonged farewells and Terry's little epilogue. "It's all a matter of perspective" or whatever is meaningless.

So some good bits but not an out-and-out success.
