Searching for a book title...

I have been searching for a book that I read while in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield in 1991, but I can't remember the title nor the author. I'm posting this in the hopes that someone else has read and remembers the book. It seems that either the woman's name or her "status rank" was the same as the title of the book.

It's about a young woman that's travelling on a starship. While on the ship, she plays a game that uses dice and a few wooden sticks with markings on them. The instructions on how to play the game are in the back of the book.

I made a set of the sticks while in the desert and played the game with a few friends.

I'd love to find this book again! Thanx in advance!!

I tried to google it for you but I admit to failure. Perhaps a few more details would help, specific keywords, names or locations taken in the book. I assume it's sci-fi from mention of the starship correct?

I've googled every term combination I can think of. That's about all I can remember about the book, I doubt if I'll find it unless someone just happens to have read it and recognize my discription. It's just been so long since I read it.

It seems she was an ambassador to other planets or something similar.

The only thing I can think of is the Honor Harrington series but I haven't read it so I've no idea if this is the right one. At least it might be something you'd like. Here's the amazon link for some of the books in the series.

Hey, thanx!! I haven't read any of that series, but I'll sure be stopping by the used book store in town and seeing if they have the first couple of books, they sound GREAT!

I'm just finishing the first book of the "Liadan Universe" series by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. It's an ok book, but not one I'd keep in the bookshelf for another read in the future.
