SPOILER

I haven't seen this part, so someone else should correct me if I'm wrong... But after the credits, you hear prof X's voice... I'm not sure how and what... we might want to have some Weaveness here to explain it better than I can.

I don't believe that Magneto is evil, necessarily, considering his background. He went through a lot with Mystique, and wouldn't do that to her. And what they did with the Professor? Sad. What they did with Scott? A cheap plot so they could get Logan and Jean together.
I don't agree with you about Rogue - I always found her quite annoying, so the less of her the better. But I suppose it's a little confusing for people who hadn't seen the first two.

As for Magneto, well, I completely disagree there. The guy's evil and hides behind a set of warped principles to justify his actions and dupe the others - even X. I totally believed that he would do that to Mystique and thought it was an interesting moment in the film.

I agree about Scott though.

Yes, I was told about that too. Remember when he's teaching his pupils and asks whether it was ethical for a man in a coma to have another consciousness transferred into the body? Well there was the clue.

Re: X-Men 3

I used to work in a comic store and collect comics, but that was twenty yeas ago, and although I was an enormous Avengers fan, I didn't read much X-Men. So . . . I'm going to ask a Big Question for one of you devoted X-Men readers to answer.

How does the third movie (and the other movies, too) fit in or not fit in with the comics themselves? How much of the plot comes from the comics? I'm interested in hearing specific details, if you've got them.

Re: X-Men 3

I don't have the real details because I never read the comic, but I've heard people say they messed a lot with the story of the comics, including good guy joining the 'bad' side and things like that.

Spoiler -

Well, they're getting thier powers back, right? And X is alive and well. Does this mean more movies in the mix? The title Last Stand would suggest not.

Re: X-Men 3

The name would suggest there's not more, and, I'm not sure about the profits of the first week, but if they are disappointing, then I'd say no. But, you never know, the last scene with Magneto did leave it pretty open-ended. You have to say, as long as they make new comics, you can also make a new movie out of it. And the comics are so awfully popular I don't believe Marvel will stop making them any time soon

Aparently they're not planning on making an X-Men 4, but they are going to make a Wolverine film.

But the Wolverine movie isn't news anymore. I knew that before this one was in the cinemas...

Re: X-Men 3

Didn't this movie break box office records for an opening weekend? If its momentum continues, and let's face it, everyone who has seen the first 2 will be seeing this one, it could become so profitable that the production co. will try for a fourth. At least, I would.

Re: X-Men 3

I would like to see a fourth. I thought it was good but could've done with being a bit longer, just to get more character story in! Plus I would've liked to have seen Gambit show up! Apparently Josh Holloway (Lost) was meant to play him but he thought that Gambit was too simialr to his character Sawyer, in Lost so he decided against it!

Re: X-Men 3

Yeah, on Weave's forum we discussed this as well. Gambit pretty much is the coolest X-man, and I couldn't believe he wasn't in. Although, he was a bit in... At least, if I believe the cartoon which I used to watch. Gambit was always a bit argueing with Wolverine wasn't he? And Cyclopse took that role, I guess.

Anyway, I agree that it was too short. They crammed in so much characters that it was too short to keep 'track' of them all, and define them all and so on.

I argued also that Clive Owen would make a perfect Gambit...

Gambit is cool, Mark you are correct, in the comics,Gambit and Wolverine were always at each other throats. So it is a pity that he wasn't in the movie I think.

Lets face it, Cyclops is boring....

Well Cool....

Re: X-Men 3

How large a role does Halle Berry play in this movie? I think she's horrible, and if she's got a lot of screen time I'm going to skip this movie. If her role is smaller than in X2, I will probably see the movie even though it's been panned thoroughly.

Re: X-Men 3

I get the feeling that if they do any more movies they will call it something else and focus on the younger students, so this was the last stand for all the big name stars perhaps.

spoilers

-Magneto having the ability to slightly move the chess piece suggests that the cure is not permanent so characters like Rogue can get their powers back
