Re: X-Men 3

god i hated this movie!!!

SPOILER ALERTS

come on what about cyclops, what a feckin cop out. That sucked ass. There were so many continuity errors that the whole movie sucked because of it. let alone all the mutants who could only seem to jump far. the phoenix side of things, wow what a waste. ANyone who read the comics has got to be disappointed by that.

then we have wolverine being shot with porcupines, he pulls them out and strangely his healing power now stretches to his vests, hmmm. and whats witht he bridge, hasd magneto not heard of a boat? and does nighttime really fall that wuickly in san francisco. really? what di the mutants just stand for twelve hours for full dark and the xmen to turn up.

"Shall we attack magneto?" whines pyro.
"No, we wait until darknes,"
"But they can see us, you lifted a bridge to get here!"
"We wait for darkness," glares magneto. "plus, the xmen arent here yet."

so they are keeping mystique somewhere secure from magneto, like a big metal truck? a big METAL truck? anyone? no seriously, anyone?

And the after credits shot, did someone go, oops we juyst killed a good franchise, i know whta we will do have everyone come back

and the beast, good god how poor did it look when he was bouncin around on wires, again with the jumping??

"show some teeth kelsey!" shouts the rat, "show us some aggression!!" rarrrh!

in a word, poor

I liked it. Though I wish they had shown Angel a bit more. Was I the only one thinking Kitty was too young for Iceman?

I read the comics and I wasn't disappointed with how they handled Phoenix. In fact it made more sense; It was more realistic than posession by a cosmic being.

Re: X-Men 3

Wow, Ive been utterly amazed by the reaction to the movie. I cant recall such polarity in opinions of a film. Most films have their admirers and detractors, but with some saying it was brilliant and the best comic book movie ever and with others saying it was garbage, I really have to wonder.

From what Ive been able to gather is that the FX are amazing but the storyline and dialogue were barely there. I was at Marcon this past weekend and people were quoting lines from the movie then bursting out laughing.

I havent seen it yet and didnt plan on it (my wife thinks the entire franchise is ridiculous) but I am tempted to go just to see what my reaction would be.

Re: X-Men 3

I just saw the movie. I enjoyed the soap-opera angst. Hugh Jackson conveys emotion well, especially in Wolverine's intense scenes with Jean.

Magneto's twisting of the Golden Gate Bridge, though, made me snort. Really, there are easier ways to get to Alcatraz! (OK, I know Magneto wanted to make a spectacle. I just fell out of the movie's reality at that point because I live near San Francisco; all I could think about was how badly the destruction would mess up traffic patterns during rush hour, given that we're currently reworking the other main bridge across the bay.)

Other than a few people here, I've yet to hear any positive reviews. The biggest complaints I've heard : The Phoenix subplot was handled badly, the dialogue is awful, and it is poorly directed.

Re: X-Men 3

I have a few friends that told me it was the best super hero movie ever. Everyone at the Con I spoke to told me it was biowaste. There are a few positives here as well.

Jean reminded me a bit of Evil Willow from Buffy. Anyone else had the same thing?

That's funny, Marky! Maybe it was the veiny face makeup. Too bad Wolverine couldn't give Jean a yellow crayon story instead of a gut full of adamantium claws.

Re: X-Men 3

OK... a little theory... If Xavier isn't really dead through Jean's powers... then maybe Cyclops isn't either... Afer all, we only saw his specs and not him actually dying, right?

Re: X-Men 3

Wait a sec - Xavier isn't dead?

I liked the movie, but it wasn't nearly as good as the first 2. Poor Famke really got screwed on her Pheonix role - shame. I would've liked to have seen a bit more on some of the other mutants; I think I could've sat through another half hour or so - maybe a director's cut will include more.

Re: X-Men 3

Ummm...yeah, I was pretty much disappointed, but still glad I saw it. The first time I saw it, I hated it a lot, but after seeing it again I would have to say it was okay.

WARNING: SPOILER MATERIAL

My biggest complaint was what they did with the characters. I mean come on. The first two movies showed a lot of Rogue coming to terms with her powers, then she's in the third one for, what, 5 minutes, and gets rid of them??? And the thing between Mystique and Magneto...that really pissed me off. Magneto would not just leave her there like that. If anything, he would try to find some way to help her get her powers back. I don't believe that Magneto is evil, necessarily, considering his background. He went through a lot with Mystique, and wouldn't do that to her. And what they did with the Professor? Sad. What they did with Scott? A cheap plot so they could get Logan and Jean together.

Some cool fighting, and it was fun to see Storm kick butt in this one, but still disappointing.
