It isn't a particularly surprising chapter, although it is necessary. It always seemed likely that Tyrion would end up being sent towards Dany.

If Tyrion spends the entirety of "A Dance With Dragons" asking "Where do whores go?", then I may start to get a bit irritated by that phrase.

No, Tyrion was never one to shy away from the action. He will want to see the dragons and will cross paths with Dany (I hope anyways).

I think Ser Barristan Selmy is likely to get there first by bluntly pointing out to Dany that her father's actions against especially the Starks gave them no real choice in having to fight him. In fact I wouldn't be at all surprised if Selmy's support of Dany is conditional on her attempting reconcile her father's treasons against his subjects and bring order to the land, rather than take revenge.

I don't know how much some of the Kingsguard saw/judged the king.

The Lord Commander (Whent, was it? The guy with the bats!) and Arthur Dayne probably were the closest to the king, so they knew.
Jamie was forced to be around the king all the time so he knew, but how often do the rest of the Kingsguard see the king up close?

Selmy seems to have hung round Rhaegar more than the King.
Actually does anyone know who the seven Kingsguard were in the time of the Rebellion.

The three in Dorne (Dayne, Whent and 1 other), Jamie & Selmy make 5, who were the other two?

Also, remember when selmy first joined Danny? He hid his identity initialy because (as he told her) he wanted to make sure she did not share her father's taint, or words to that effect. he knew.
