Personally I am not into any such thing myself, being far to stubborn to be submissive but if this is what these people enjoy doing then good on them, Britian is far too prude for its own good.
Perhaps; and if it is truly consensual, that's another thing. But I've lived through too many cults that were very successful in "brainwashing" to give that easy credence. "Heaven's Gate", anyone? Jim Jones? etc. I feel that there should at least be some sort of wether-eye on this (much as I hate invasions of privacy), just in case. If nothing of the sort is going on, fine. If, on the other hand, we have such a situation, I'd like it to not end up like so many others. Give the coroners less to do....

Re: "Kaotians" discovered in Darlington

Although as I said earlier, I figure if it is truly consensual and only adults are engaged in it, that should be their business and their business only, I take j.d.'s point. Having grown up in "cult central" in southern California, I know how dangerous and destructive groups like this can become. I lived in close proximity (within a few miles) to a couple of "cult compounds" and saw close-up how easily people are pulled in.

Re: "Kaotians" discovered in Darlington

this is some weird stuff... 25.000 out of 6,500,000,000 people...
we read an article in class about a similar cult, it's quite shocking to hear ( well in this case read) that some people are willing to do such things.

idont really see it as being much more different than people who choose to take a dominant / sub role anyway so the big deal goes straight over my head.

I think there's a little bit of difference between enjoying sub/dom and so-on on the one hand, and practicing a lifestyle that believes women are genetically predispositioned to be subservient to men on the other.

That's the input I've had from people who followed them. Anyone here know anything different?

As for the "cult" -- no, no rants. Considering some of those we've had in recent years, it just wouldn't be worth it.
Yes I read a lot of them when I was younger. I'd say the first 8 or so were decent adventures, with the exception of no 7, which was called Slave Girl of Gor and which I couldn't read. While all those first books had a little of the female subservience theme (which seemed to increase with each book), it was only in later books that that theme seemed to become dominant. I think the last one I was able to read was Marauders of Gor, which was no 9.

I should stress that to me they were just good adventures and the other stuff didn't really get in the way, though I was aware of it.

I wouldn't like to comment on Norman's obvious belief that men want to/should dominate and women want to be/should be dominated. Maybe there is something deep in our genes that says that that is the natural order of things (once needed for survival) and Norman is just being more honest than most of us are prepared to be about those feelings.

I would only be concerned for any of the members children, how would they fit into the cult and it's beliefs?
