Cosford Airshow I nearly put this in the Signing Events thread, but felt it merited a thread of its own. I'm going to be having a table in one of the hangars at Cosford Airshow on 11th June, so any aircraft buffs amongst you who want to come and talk flying and writing - I'd love to see you there. I'll be signing books (of course) but a large percentage of the profits taken on the day will be going to a children's charity. So, roll up, roll up, and get your copies of The Darkweaver Legacy and Imperial Spy signed at the airshow!

Re: Cosford Airshow That's really cool Mark. Very nice of you to do! I do hope you still get some writing done these days - you seem to have events going left and right. Not that they are bad things (quite the opposite, I'm sure), just that I'm impatient ![]()

Re: Cosford Airshow Had a great day of sales at Cosford Airshow today. Two hundred and seventy six books sold, which was close to beating my all time record. It was a great day out, but I'm now going to put up my feet and enjoy a well earned beer! ![]()

Re: Cosford Airshow I once sold just over 290 books in a day. My best in a bookshop was last year at Cribbs Causeway WH Smith (on a Thursday, of all days) when I sold 246. Needless to say I worked pretty hard (and long hours) to achieve those figures, but a short sharp burst can generate a bubble of readers that promote interest in an area that then spreads. Total sales for this weekend was four short of 400 books, which was most pleasing given a slow afternoon on Saturday. Apparently there was a football match on, or something!

Re: Cosford Airshow Some might view it that way ... me, I would just say that people get swept away by my debonaire smile and charming manner (to say nothing of my good looks!). Two minutes in my presence and they find they cannot resist my books. ![]()

Re: Cosford Airshow Nice to see you here, Burnie. I hope you make yourself at home. There are loads of great boards here for those who like fantasy. You'll see that there is an Eddings board as well. If you're not sure how to get there, just ask. It was great to get such a good day of sales at the airshow. My children loved every minute of the display, though they were very tired by the end. I must admit I did sneak to the hangar door and watch the Red Arrows. They were just as good as ever.

Re: Cosford Airshow Mark, Have you seen the news tonight about an RAF Harrier crashing in Oxfordshire, on its way to an airshow at RAF Fairford this weekend? It sounds like the pilot did a pretty impressive job of keeping the aircraft away from any major population centres, but it ended up on the A4260 (which runs north out of Oxford), narrowly missing the traffic. Did you ever fly Harriers? Any professional views on possible causes of the accident?

Re: Cosford Airshow Patrick, I never flew Harriers, though many of my friends have/do. Having just scanned the BBC news site, I note that the pilot ejected safely, which saves me ringing round tonight. I would hate to speculate on why the aircraft would crash. Harriers are notoriously difficult to fly, but this would have been the display pilot flying, so it is highly unlikely to have been pilot error during a routine transit flight. What more can I say? Technology is a fine thing when its working ...
