thinking about writing a book

im seriously concidering writing a sci-fi/ fantasy book. i was concidering writing a warhammer 40k book as i know alot about the background and maybe get it published by black library. i was thinking of writing about about a squad of imperial guard scouts behind tau lines.

introduction would be something like this

He was lieing, just peering down his scope at the enemy base, he absolutely hated this place with a pasion. The Omega 647 prime was a desert world, devoide of much vegitation only hardy bushes the colour of the sand it self and not much else, the sandstorm blew over head. He was here to sabotage the xeno scum's base, to do as much damage as he could but he knew that he probably wouldnt be coming back from it alive, standard sucide(sp) scout mission. Tau, if you seen them up close you wouldnt be scared of them much, the tallest of them not more than 4ft but they had some serious fire power and wouldnt think twice in blowing a ft wide hole in his chest. Patiently he watched observing their premiter watching to see what thier patrols were like when one of thier quard spotted him.

Yes, I know, this wasn't a critique but I wanted to show that this is going to take a lot of work in spelling and punctuation before you can start thinking of submitting it anywhere. I don't know the particular style of the publication, but preparing the manuscript in a usable form improves the chances of it being read considerably.

Re: thinking about writing a book

I think before you get started you might want to find out whether the Warhammer people will look at submissions from first-time writers, or whether they only look at proposals from established professionals willing to write a book for a flat fee. That's usually how it works with a franchise series.
