Star Wars 3-D

It seems our friend George Lucas is planning Star Wars to be re-released in 3-D. See following link:
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr..._id=1000846019

Is this a good idea or overkill?

Personally, I relish any opporutnity to see the movies again on the big screen and making them 3-D would actually be very cool. Imagine the battle of Yavin or Endor in 3-D. Or the speeder chase. Or any of the lightsabre duels...I could go on.

Cash.
Cow.
Milk.
It.

He should be more concerned with re-releasing the original and best versions of Star Wars, instead of trying to show how much fun you can have creating 2nd rate computer graphics.

2c.

It seems like he is planning the re-release of the original films in 3-D.

This also looks like it will happen just before the new TV series (both animated and live-action) that seem like they may also have 3-D elements.

Re: Star Wars 3-D

I agree with I, Brian; what Star Wars needs is a DVD release of the original trilogy the way we got to know and love it: Untainted by 3D rendered show-off imagery floating all over the place.

Although a 3D release of that version might work.

Re: Star Wars 3-D

Does 3D every actually work in theaters?
I went to see a couple of 3D ones and had a hard time making out what all the fuss was about (and yes, I did have the requiste viewing device! )

Oh, but rather than clutch at straws like this, George should hand over his magnum opus and let someone make a TV series out of it as has been mooted.

Hmm, 3-D star wars? Not a good idea. In my opion: 3-D movies Suck!! I hate the glasses, I hate the crapy effects, i hate the idea of "Three Dee" As if Lucas hadn't screwed with Star Wars enough...
