Why does the rain in Spain stay mainly in the plain? What's so special about that plain? Wouldn't it have gotten bored with the plainess of the plain and moved into the big bad cities at least? Why have the people all not moved to that plain where the rain mainly stays?

I suspect because it would interfere with the coastal Sea Shell business. As in "She sells sea shells by the sea shore."
