Re: The Random Thoughts Thread

More a random question than a random thought, but...

Reading through something on the forum my sister mods made me wonder: Has there ever been a Chronicles based awards? Ie, best poster, funniest reply, best avatar, etc? Just wondering...

Re: The Random Thoughts Thread

Not an award as such, as far as I know - there have been threads on best avatar and usernames - but the best thing to do is try the "search" function with some keywords.

Re: The Random Thoughts Thread

I've always wondered... if Adam and Eve were the first people on earth and had only two sons, then how did their sons manage to find wives?

Um, according to the story, only one son lived long enough to need a wife.....

Re: The Random Thoughts Thread

They didn't just have two sons...they had many more children, I believe, including a son called Seth.

And it's argued that because we don't really know the age of Cain and Abel when Cain killed his brother, or when he gets married, that his wife could be a sister, or a granddaughter or even great-grandaughter or Adam and Eve (they apparently lived for over 900 years so they probably would've had a lot of children!)

Cain’s wife—who was she?

Who was Cain's wife?

So the short answer is that we're all inbred, then?

Re: The Random Thoughts Thread

This is where I have a problem with people and their reliance on the bible as fact.

There are 3 possibilities to this:

1 - God relented and made some more people, only no-one mentions the fact;

2 - As far as the bible is concerned, incest is acceptable; or

3 - Darwin was sort of right....

Whatever hypothesis you support, we issue from a much smaller population base, and thus, almost by definition, are inbred. However, this holds for all species, and, by at least one working principle, at the time of Noah, the gene pool of all non-aquatic species was again taken back down to a near irreducable minimum. And we're a lot more genetically diverse than, say, racehorses or some pedigree dogs (all right, they're not species; you've always got the possibility of outcrossing)

Looks around, confused Wasn't this supposed to be random thoughts? Oh, perhaps I'll get the hang of "random" some day; it's like chaos theory, innit?

Pigs like to be scratched between their shoulderblades, because they can't reach that tickly spot themselves.

So do cats, it's the one area they can't reach.

Re: The Random Thoughts Thread

Mine seem to do a good job at it... and if they can't reach, then the other comes along and bites them a few times.

They really like being tickled in the deep, furry bit under each ear/each cheek, too.
