Burnley 1 - 6 Man City

ESPN broadcasts comedy shows now, you know...

Couldn't even rely on the weather - what a punchline having the match abandoned would have been.

That's all I have to say. I didn't even bother to watch the second half.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

can't say i blame you with that one. it ain't funny when that happens.

meanwhile, Arsenal failed to score against 11 men, so they pleaded with the ref to send one off. Marriner's a coward.

City were once leading Luton Town 6 - 2 in the FA Cup (Dennis Law scored all six) when the match was abandoned with 20 minutes to go. City lost 3 - 1 in the replay (Law scored again).

Some supporters of other clubs think they have it bad, but nothing, nothing approaches supporting City.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

Newcastle United secured promotion to Premier League today. They should have never have been in the Fizzy Pop League anyway! A couple more wins and they will be top of the Championship. Tough year ahead though -they'll need new players and that means some much needed investment. Hughton has done a fantastic job this year, but Mike Ashley just wants to get his money back.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

He'll be lucky. Just so long as he sells up to someone who wants what's best for the club - it'd make a nice change.

Anyhoo, nice to see that we're on our way back up. You're right about the new players, though, Dave - we'll need five or six in if we want to stay up next season. We've got some decent talents in there, but I'm not sure how many are Premier League material.

Oh, and it looks like we might just be celebrating with a win tonight. 2-1 up on the Blades as it stands...

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

...and so it came to pass. Congrats, Til! I know how good it feels to bounce back after a year in the wilderness.

Meanwhile, a 1-0 win away to St. Johnstone keeps us within five points of Celtic, and, with six games remaining, still in with an outside chance of claiming that second Champions League berth. Of course the odds are against it, but we're unbeaten in eight and have won four straight, and if we can keep the form going, you just never know.......

First of all, we have a Scottish Cup semi-final to take care of on Sunday. And in this one we're strong favourites (against Raith Rovers, from the First Division). Yikes!!! I think I prefer when we're the underdog. I just hope no one at the club is getting complacent.

Cheers, Seph. Just a shame we won't be passing the Mackems going t'other way... (I'm kidding. Really.)

Good luck for Sunday. Be good to see someone other than the bigot bros. pick up some silverware.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

Yeah, you're kidding. Like I'm kidding when I say I'm glad our city rivals have blown a 13-point lead and are now 4 points adrift in the race for promotion.

And thanks. If we manage to get past Raith, it's going to be another final against Celtic. (No disrespect to Ross County, I just can't see them staging what would be a seismic upset in the other semi.) I've been to a fair few of those, and they've never ended well (we've found every possible way to lose against them). But our luck has to change sooner or later!

First we have to get there, though. I refuse to count chickens.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

Actually, I'm quite happy for the Mackems to stay up. Provided we take six points off them next season.

Oh, and as for tonight's Champ League game...sorry, but can I just say ha, ha and ha. And once again, ha.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

more seriously, that, and the Emirates/Karl Henry incident, show that bullying the match officials is unfortunately becoming a much more prevalent part of the game. can't be long until we have the prospect of Mike Dean being shadowed across the pitch by Dollars FC's latest acquisition, Igor "the Bruiser" Knokyerblocoff, to ensure he comes to the right decision regarding those pesky away goal decisions....

Meanwhile....

Ha!

Nevertheless, Ross County won by two goals to nil.

Hull 1 - 4 Burnley

You see that? Eh? See that? Our total away points this season have increased by 300%! Yeah, baby!

I don't think I need to say any more. UTC!
