| Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) Preston 0 - 1 Newcastle Well, it was another very bitty performance, and we probably didn't deserve more than a draw from the game if I'm honest, but I'm certainly not going to complain. Good finish by Nolan for his eighth goal of the season, and we're back on top of the league. |

| Causa Scientiae | Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) LOL, Py. ![]() ![]() ![]() But, back to reality... Motherwell 2-2 Dundee United Not a bad result, all things considered. We finished the game with nine men, because of three cards that both managers agreed after the game should not have been issued. Meanwhile, another of our midfielders put in a nasty challenge worthy of a straight red, and wasn't even booked. Jim Gannon, the Motherwell boss, spoke out about how it had 'ruined a good game of football', afterwards. Good of him, considering his wasn't the team that suffered. But if he thinks he can influence the SFA, and get something done about the shocking standard of refereeing in Scotland, it only goes to show he hasn't been up here very long. ![]() Still, Motherwell have been playing well this year, Gannon has them well organised, and we haven't really hit our stride at all despite scraping plenty of decent results. They're still the only team to beat us (1-0 at Tannadice, earlier in the season). So I'll take the point and be happy with it. It keeps 'Well 3 pts behind us, and we're still in touch with the OF. For now.... |

| Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) England Algeria USA Slovenia Cannot say I am unhappy with that group, especially with the England v US match first. (I will say the american media may be a bit delusional thinking since 4 of the US players are in the prem and one in champions that it is a relatively even match though) Cannot wait. | Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) Good to see Chelsea lose; they were threatening to run away with the title this season. Hopefully, it'll be something decided on the last day of the season. |
