Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

these things do tend to come in threes...like Wolves goals, i suspect....

ursa: how'll we do next year? i'll settle for starting like Hull and finishing like Stoke. hoping it's not the other way around....

We'll see. You up for meeting up and shouting profanities at a TV somewhere as we watch the Reading vs. PNE final?

Talking about Reading, I've just read that Bikey has got himself a four match ban!

The reason:

EDIT: Apparently my college doesn't have Setanta, so the Blades vs. PNE match will be on in the bar (Sky Sports). I think I might go and watch it, rather than listen to goal updates as I program.

Toon 0 - 1 Boro...with five minutes gone...

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear.....

Edit - and back level at 1 - 1 after twelve...this could be an interesting game...

1-1 after nine minutes - Taylor header. Interesting. Nervy (for me, at least), but interesting.

Yes indeed, Py. And Huth looks like he's having trouble at the back for Boro - they lose him, we could have a field day at set pieces.

*crosses fingers*

While, you hope, Toon crosses balls into the box.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

We're all over them! There must be another goal coming. Please, don't let us waste all this good play...

And no sooner have I said that, Boro get themselves a great chance. Fortunately, they screw it up. Oh, this could be a long night.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

Boro are pressing for a second goal, and our defence...less said, better. If I stop posting, you'll know I've either a) had a heart attack, or b) lost it completely and put my fist through the screen.

Martins on - MARTINS SCORES!!! 2-1 Toon! Come On!

3-1! Game over! Toon out of the bottom three!

*Till bounces out of the thread*

*And bounces back in briefly*

Lovenkrands the scorer, BTW. Just in case anyone was wondering...

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

Go on the Blades! Interesting match - the first half was a show of shoddy defending and missed chances. The second half was much nicer, particularly when the pressure was put on Preston (and they actually started to play football!).

Now come on the Clarets!

Yep, well done to the Blades, and now let's see Burnley take Reading apart tomorrow.

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

Come on Blades!

Thought we dominated the game up until we scored!

Then we just invited the pressure onto us.

That's over another £100 to spend on the play off final!

Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond)

Congratulations, Ross.

I'll use the time between now and the end of the Burnley match to decide how to word my support for the Blades and - one hopes - the Clarets in the final.

And good news, Till: a toe in the door of next season's Premiership.

I suspect Till won't be expressing any optimism until it becomes a mathematical certainty...
