| Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) As a Blackburn fan, relegation is certainly upsetting but not particularly surprising. We've been poor all season, following on from the back end of last season; Kean can be blamed, but ultimately false promises from the Venkys and some weightless performances from the majority of the squad are the true causes. Hopefully the Venkys will sell up to someone with a little more passion, keeping the majority of the squad (certainly the younger players) in the bargain, and try to bounce back first time. Although I fear it could just be another long and tough season. |

I was looking forward to seeing the money fail on the final day of the season), but despite QPR conceding two in to minutes, Stoke managed to keep Bolton to a draw! My hopes for the season came to pass - Rovers and Bolton down. If West Ham win the playoffs, then the Championship next season is going to be incredible. A mini North-West league! |

| not sure if... | Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) Oh my God what a day eh? Glad City pipped United to the post, couldn't have made it any harder for themselves, maybe they'll knock SAF off his perch? Nothing would please me more. Only cost them £1.5 billion, after all...true underdogs. |

| Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) It does seem almost ironic that United lost the title because City scored two goals in an extended period of extra time. I have to say that I found the last few minutes of this EPL season to be rather tense, and I'm a neutral. Goodness knows what rollercoaster of emotions the City and United (and QPR and Bolton fans) have been riding for the last couple of hours. |

| Re: Football (Soccer to those across the pond) Well, being a ABMU person, this was the best set of results there could be. All three of last years promoted teams survive, Chelsea and Liverpool finish nowhere and City win the title. All I want now is for Bayern and Blackpool to win next Saturday... ![]() I dare say Mosaix'll be downing a few lemonades tonight... ![]() Quote:

![]() Okay, just this once, I'm lifting my self-imposed ban from this thread. First a word about QPR. All credit to their team and the fans. Met a few before and after the game and the results went the way we both wanted - we won the Prem and they stayed up. Can't ask for more than that. The Barton incident apart, I thought they played an excellent game - rock solid in defence and and scoring from both their attempts on goal. I wonder if they relaxed a bit in the last two minutes when the result from Stoke had come through? As for City, I think we have scored more goals in injury time this season than in the previous ten seasons put together - steel and determination is just another attribute that Kompany and co. have acquired this season. A great touch for the club to have the surviving members of the '68 team bring on the trophy before the presentation - just another emotional moment in what was a rollercoaster couple of hours. Credit to Ferguson for his congratulations to City in his TV interview, he must have been as gutted as we were elated. City's man of the season? Very difficult to choose as they have all performed so well. Hart in goal made some magnificent saves, Aguero scored some magnificent goals, Toure has been a tower in mid-field. But there's one player who, for me, epitomizes the City spirit this season - Pablo Zabaleta. Never made a mistake all season, played where he's been told, never a word of complaint, never a hint of a problem, broken his nose twice for the cause and just got on with the job quietly and effectively - and he scored yesterday - a true professional who gets my vote. Bring on the next season! | |
