| Re: New Series Paradox breathes in heavily before exploding into a massive rant.... SPOILER alert ... though there's not much to spoil, really.... I was a big fan of the new series, and I still have a lot of faith that this second season will be excellent - however, that said, I think "New Earth" was absolutely pathetic. The only good things about it were the special effects and makeup (which you should come to expect from modern TV these days anyway) and Billie Piper/David Tennant's acting. Their performaces were very good. I don't think Tennant can hold a candle to Eccleston, but he'll probably grow on me. As for this week's story. How crap was that? This is set 5 billion years in the future when people are able to transfer each other from body to body by breathing, but by some astonishing "retro-style-lack-of-imagination-excuse" they still use elevators that look exactly the same as today's! And since when do you suddenly cure hundreds of disease-plagued zombies by squidging loads of intravenous bags (still used in 5 billion years?) together in a big vat, spraying them and then getting them to pass it on!!!! I mean come on! Most 5 year olds aren't going to buy that are they? And also, if you've been infected by every disease in existence, are you actually going to be in any condition to walk at all? Sheesh!! And lastly before I end my storming but justified rant, I do wish they'd STOP alluding to sexual and/or emotional relationship between doctor and assistant. Whatever their excuse is, it isn't good enough. In the old show, these things were not even hinted at let alone displayed or spoken of. It has no place in Dr Who and would be as bad as suggesting that Frodo and Sam in LOTR are gay - unthinkable. It has no place in Dr Who - at all! I could rant on forever about how bad that episode was, I'm just hoping that the rest of them aren't going to be as terrible as that. I'm sure they will be. Paradox falls back to sleep again. ![]() |

Or everyone in England was yelling the same things. But I pick the creepier explanation. I was wondering what that unmarked white van was doing outside. Until now I'd thought it was the government. Unless... Paradox, are you the Government? | |

| Re: New Series I loved Tennant in the 'Christmas Invasion' episode, but the latest episode was a little ... wierd. I think that maybe just 'cos I think it was too soon to throw in the cheap stunts ~ ***SPOILERS***... i.e Doctor and Rose getting soaked, and 'Rose' snogging the Doctor. Although I loved that look he had upon his face afterwards. However, I believe I've seen too many films tp take the episode individully ~ i.e when I saw the 'flesh', I thought 'The X-files', then 'The Matrix' etc. Also there are too many loose ends ~ like, how did Cassandra leap from body to body? How is it good enough that those dreadful infections were passed by contact alone? On the other hand, I thought the ending was a very Doctorish accomplishment ...(as I wrote in my lj,) 'buggering up a whole society to rescue those millions of guinea-pigs who were trapped in a life they did not chose, and who have no idea how to interact with society.
