Yes, I agree, but the point I was trying to make, (and Feist brings this out well in Prince of the Blood), is that the further up the scale of the nobility you are, the less free will you have, and the more constraints on your behaviour and life there are. I'd rather be free to do what I want in life, than to be burdened with the obligations of Royalty - wouldn't you?

Re: Who would you be?

As boring as it is i'd be very happy to be Arutha.

Not too much stress growing up, with good siblings/friends, enough freedom well balanced by plenty of privliges and no great expectations.

A few really fun, important adventures with some true friends, that declared to him and everyone else that he was worthy of the position fate put him in and all this when he was young enough to enjoy the danger.

This lead to finding the love of his life, who loved him and together they raised a family that you could be very proud of (Jimmy included), and by and by a position that more than paid the bills. Plus an extended family that constantly reminded him as to just how good he had it .

And in the end he died at a grand old age, with the respect of a nation, the love of his family and the belief that all had been worth while and would carry on (lucky maybe he didnt hang on a few more years, Fiest paying tribute to a character well served?). But either way you gotta think there's alot worse things people and characters have pondered on their death beds?

Re: Who would you be?

Oops, quick note I just remembered how old Jimmy the hand was when Krondor fell so Arutha was must have passed away quite a bit earlier, sorry it's been years since I read it

Who was the guy that travelled the Hall of Worlds, armed to the teeth? I wanna be that guy.
That would be Boldar Blood.

I think if Amos wasn't always getting stabbed in the stomach I would want to be him, but since he is always getting stabbed in the stomach I will have to go with Nicky, man I loved Nicky, I wish Feist would have written the sequel to The King's Buccaneer like he was going to, in order to bridge to the Serpent Wars...but it will never happen, so I am left with one book...*cries a bit*

Aye definetly Jimmy the Hand, the best character ever developed by this author.

Re: Who would you be?

I would be a normal, unnamed farmer, who never gets involved into any of the weird, magical troubles most of the main characters get involved in.
I would just work on the land all days, have a good meal and many good beers at the local pub, live an easy life, while never even knowing of the horrific things that threaten my existence...

Re: Who would you be?

Martin Longbow, without a doubt. Followed a close second by Jimmy, of course

Re: Who would you be?

Well i admire Arakasi the most (he's the Spymaster of the Acoma in the Empire series)
In his Midkemia books, i'd say Jimmy
