Rhaegar?? For the sake of discussion There hasn't been a lot of discussion lately on this forum,so.... is there anybody out there that thinks that there may be an ever so slight possibility that Rhaegar is alive and kicking somewhere in Westeros.I know,I know that the odds aren't good, but with the 3 heads of the dragon thing, and the so called fact that Aegon is indeed dead doesn't it make sense that there is another Targaryen of good solid blood out there.I realize there are tonnes of theories revolving around the 3rd head of the dragon (Tyrion, dead Aegon,etc..etc,even it not having to be a Targaryen) but maybe we are all looking to far from the original Targaryen line. Take for example that Rhaegar was this WONDERFUL warrior and that he read in some book that he would be this WONDERFUL warrior, so with this proficy which we all Know always come true (not), how did he possibly get beat by Robert on the Trident. I realize that Robert was also a great warrior but Rhaegar should have been better. Not to mention that if a prince dies shoudn't something memerable been done with the body. Maybe it wasn't Rhaegar in that black armor.Maybe he is elsewhere and it was that that made him mellencoly after he read the poficy.Just a radom bunch of thoughts.Comments anyone?

Re: Rhaegar?? For the sake of discussion Actually, I think Rhaegar was viewed as a damn good fighter. Originally he was a bookworm, but one day he unexpectedly emerged from his books and started training as a warrior. Given the fact that he was dedicated to his training and also that he is portrayed as a high achiever, I assume that he was far more than competent on the battlefield. But Robert was also known as a fierce warrior (and someone who seemed to enjoy combat, unlike Rhaegar). In a one on one showdown Robert would probably have the upper hand. I've always taken it for granted that Rhaegar is dead, on the assumption that his either his friends or his foes would have made positive I.D. on his corpse.

Re: Rhaegar?? For the sake of discussion Agree, Rheagar is dead. But it sort of poetic in a way that the beautiful man that he was, smart, well-read, good warrior, the envy of all women and girls (Cersei) in the kingdom and he gets himself killed by Robert whom Cersei later marries (and kills) and seems to become the exact opposite of what Rheagar represented. Now, there are certainly alot of theories about other Targaryens around: Jon, baby Aegon, Tyrion (not likely if you ask me) so there's bound to be one that pops up somewhere. My money is on Jon and the Darkstar. But, thanks for starting a discussion on the issue, eh.

Re: Rhaegar?? For the sake of discussion I don't seriously believe Rhaegar is still alive.I am just terribly bored waiting for ADWD and would discuss any theory possible (even if it is haywire).I do believe however that just about anything is possible with Martin. Just how many of us can honestly say that we predicted anything that happened in AFFC (which yes I have read 3 times to be exact, and still can guarranty that I have missed many things). Oh so many of the discussions now are just a repeat of things that we already seem to know, such as Jons parentage, the hound alive etc. I am just so so so hoping for something new and earth shattering. ADWD seems so far away. Can't wait for the update next month on the home page.It is killing me.

Re: Rhaegar?? For the sake of discussion I heard a crackpot theory somewhere (probably westeros) about the lead Monk on the island (I haven't read AFFC or the theory in a while so please excuse my explanation) being Rhaegar. There was quite a bit of support for it if I remember correctly. Hmmm, I need to find that thread.

What happened to Aerys' other siblings?? The monk was a good character and would hate to loose him after AFFC. | |
