If you’re sick of comic-book adaptations and film remakes, the last thing you might expect to get excited about is a new Superman film.

That’s right: there’s a new Superman film scheduled for release in 2013.

However, before you run off groaning at the idea of yet another mediocre cash-in, this one comes with caveats.

For a start, it’s a completely new attempt to restart the Superman franchise, after the somewhat mixed effort “Superman returns”.

Secondly, it comes backed by some big hitting names.

It’s directed by Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), produced by Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight and Inception), and has Kevin Costner playing poppa Kent, and Russell Crowe as Kor El, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.

The role of Superman himself is played by Henry Cavill, who had major roles in Immortals and The Tudors.

Of all the reboots we’ve seen so far, this is one probably worth looking out for.

And if that’s not good enough for you, here’s one of the teaser trailers:

  1. Alex says:

Superman’s father is Jor El (not Kor El). Didn’t know if that was a typo or a content error.
