A modern movie version of The Twilight Zone is coming – of course it is, a modern movie version of everything retro is coming, it would seem – and now the project has a name attached to direct.

And that name, picked by Warner Bros, would be Matt Reeves, at least according to Deadline’s ever-present sources.

In the past, Reeves has directed the shaky-cam action romp Cloverfield, which we enjoyed but many didn’t, and he also helmed Let Me In, which we haven’t seen but the original Swedish Let the Right One In was very good.

So, he certainly has some experience with those two Hollywood flicks under his belt, although there were some bigger potential names rumoured to have been lined up to take this one on.

Apparently The Twilight Zone film will be one long movie as opposed to a stitched together effort as seen in the eighties Twilight Zone flick.

Directed by Steven Spielberg and others, that film actually featured three remade episodes from the original series, and one fresh story.

Reeves hasn’t been confirmed as yet, but apparently negotiations are well underway, and it’s very likely to happen.

The project should be filming come the middle of next year, and while some people have doubts about Reeves – Let Me In’s box office performance wasn’t sterling – we’re interested to see how a Twilight Zone movie turns out.

Which is exactly what Warner Bros is counting on by using the name, of course.
