Halo film not happening, not yet anyway

Normally computer games are made based on films, not the other way round, but the reverse trend started some time ago with the likes of Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Doom hitting the silver screen due to the popularity of their game franchise.
Halo is also a big name sci-fi franchise, and work on a movie actually began way back in 2005 – although the project stalled and was declared a write-off two years later.
And briefly a rumour surfaced yesterday that a new Halo film was in the works.
It was highlighted by a French site, Halo.fr, which got hold of a press release from a publishing house printing a Halo novel. The release stated that a film adaptation of the game was coming in 2012, from Dreamworks and Steven Spielberg.
That seemed rather unlikely at the time – purely for no one else to have picked up on this, and a French publishing house to know all about it.
And that turned out to be the case, as Microsoft has confirmed to several sources on the net that it isn’t currently engaged in developing a film of Halo. It’s sticking to the video games for now.
That doesn’t mean that a Halo film won’t happen in the future, of course. Indeed, there have been a few rumours doing the rounds linking Spielberg to a possible resurrection of the project which fell over in 2007.
So Halo fans, keep your fingers crossed, we may yet see more than novels propping up Microsoft’s futuristic shooter.

I am in no hurry to see a movie version of HALO. This is due to general pessimism as to the ability of the big studios to keep it dark enough to satisfy the hordes of HALO fans out there.
I am not much of a game geek, but the live action HALO shorts on you tube got me hooked, if the movie ended up like HALO ODST live action trailer, for example, it would be trully magnificent.
I hope the version of Light of Aiden used in ODST is released.
