What did you make of Tron: Legacy?

The three-decade-on sequel to the classic eighties sci-fi film was very visually compelling, certainly, but the plot most definitely didn’t hook us.

True, it was watchable enough despite the rather corny characters, script and other mediocre trappings, but we’re not sure if we can get excited about the prospect of another movie.

There are those out there, however, who will no doubt be interested to learn that there is indeed a third Tron film on the way, at least if the grapevine is to be believed.

According to Cinema Blend, Bruce Boxleitner – who played Tron in the original and 2010′s sequel – has come out and confirmed the fact that another movie will be made.

It’s not too surprising given that Tron pulled in a pretty respectable $400 million at the box office, more than double its budget, despite the critics being relatively unmoved by the picture.

At an event, while Boxleitner was signing something for him, a fan asked him if there was any chance Tron 3 would be made.

Bruce replied: “It’s already a done deal. It’s already in the works, my friend.” He then added it would be out in 2013, and that they’d probably get to filming it next year.

Disney hasn’t officially green lit Tron 3 yet, however, and supposedly the decision is still in the balance.

If Boxleitner is anywhere near the money on that schedule, we’ll find out soon enough.
