Microsoft’s doing its round of summer games promotions on Xbox Live again, and the first title to be part of 2011′s hot weather (ahem) gaming marathon is Bastion.
Exclusively available on Live Arcade (but also planned for the PC later), Bastion is an action role-player published by Warner Bros.
Selling points include wild and imaginative unknown realms populated by strange beasts, and a “reactive narration system” which responds to the actions of the player in real-time.
An array of customisable weapons is promised, as well as powers gained from “specially brewed spirits”, apparently. Make ours a double.
It certainly looks quite freaky if you take a gander at the official trailer. The cartoon-like world forms underneath you as you walk around, and the idea is to rebuild the environment from dying ashes to what it once was.
Bastion puts us a little in mind of Torchlight, although a bit more Manga looking and definitely more surreal.
Amir Rao, Studio Director of developer Supergiant Games, enthused: “We couldn’t be more excited to show the world what our team of seven people at Supergiant Games can do.”
“Bastion expresses our desire to make games that spark players’ imaginations like the ones they played as kids. We hope it leaves a lasting impression.”
The game has picked up plenty of awards already, earning ten of them when shown off at E3. If you fancy a slice of the action and loot collecting, then hop over to Xbox Live, where you’ll be able to download Bastion for 1200 MS points.
