The next patch for the Witcher 2 should hopefully be arriving soon.
Patch 1.2 came out at the start of June, introducing some important tweaks and loading optimisation, along with balancing adjustments to make the beginning of the game not quite so tough.
It also included some bits of downloadable content, and patch 1.3 will similarly boast free DLC according to the updated changelog spotted by Joystiq.
This time around the DLC is a new quest entitled “A sackful of fluff”, which has been added to Chapter 2 of the game. Apparently the quest-giver is Elthon, who lives in a hut near the quarry outside of Vergen.
The devs says the quest will prove rewarding to those who “demonstrate patience” (hopefully it won’t involve going anywhere near a sleeping troll’s bellybutton).
Players will also find a useful inventory storage bin has been added at inns for all that junk that might come in useful, but they don’t want to lug around. A quickload option has also been added, along with support for 4:3, 5:4 and 16:10 format monitors.
Various key binding options are set to be added, tweaks made to the launcher, and the usual multiple bug fixes. Patching will now no longer reset your game settings, handily. All in all, it sounds very much worth having.
If you’re not familiar with The Witcher 2, it’s a gritty RPG sequel with some fantastic visuals, atmosphere and storyline, alongside adult themes (much like the first game, which was an overlooked gem when it first emerged).
