InterWave has just released a new fact sheet detailing more on its upcoming first-person shooter and real-time strategy hybrid, Nuclear Dawn.

As the name suggests, it’s a post-apocalyptic scenario where two armies duke it out using weapons which don’t rely purely on twitch skills and reflexes, but skill and tactics.

You can play as a soldier on the ground, or a commander organising the soldiers into squads and assigning objectives.

It certainly isn’t the first time this melding has been tried, although Nuclear Dawn claims to offer both an undiluted shooter and RTS experience, so for example when it comes to the latter there’s full base building, tech research and so forth.

Soldiers can select from four classes – heavy weapons, balanced assault soldier, stealth and support (engineer-medic). Sixteen troops are on each side, with various class unlocks and boons coming with new ranks as you gain kills and experience.

A number of game modes are planned which aren’t just the usual capture-the-flag scenarios, the developer claims, although exactly what isn’t yet specified. Team-based objectives are to be expected, naturally enough.

Nuclear Dawn will be arriving on the PC and Mac via Steam in September.
