Catwoman will be playable character in Batman: Arkham City
Warner Bros has let it be known that players will be able to step into the high-heeled (and terribly impractical) boots of Catwoman in the upcoming Batman: Arkham City.
She’ll have her own storyline in the main game, apparently, and her adventure complements Batman’s central role, fitting together like a well-crafted jigsaw puzzle in terms of the overall story arc.
Catwoman will also be playable in challenge maps and has her own unique fighting style, combat moves, signature takedowns and of course gadgetry (utility collar and exploding cat litter tray).
The sequel to the hugely successful Arkham Asylum opens up the entire area of Arkham to the player, an environment which is five times the size of the first gameworld. Arkham City is basically a district within Gotham City, effectively a fortified maximum security prison where the Gotham authorities send all their thugs and criminal kingpins.
Judging from what has been written in previews, the game engine has been polished and honed with an even smoother and more satisfying combat system. It should be a guaranteed winner…
The action-stealth sequel is due out on Xbox, PS3 and PC in October.
