Rift is a fantasy MMORPG which is known for that rarest of feats among the denizens of the massively multiplayer world – a smooth launch.

There’s already been one major update to the game, and Trion Worlds has just announced the second which is known as The Spoils of War.

So what are these spoils? Facebook integration for starters, which allow for direct in-game updating of your profile with screen shots, achievements and indeed YouTube video links for general showing off purposes.

Another new introduction is the “Sliver”, a new type of instance which transfers players to an alternate reality where invaders from the planes have taken over and a ten person raid has to put things right.

A host of more minor features have also been drafted in, including an LFG (Looking for Group) function, a wardrobe with five outfit slots to choose between, a fifth role for further class flexibility (another of Rift’s strengths) and a host of interface improvements for the likes of the auction house and crafting.

New dynamic content is incoming too, with two new raid rifts, a new expert group rift and rifts specially designed to reward crafters. Add some new zone events and it’s quite a tidy package of fresh content.

Rift: The Spoils of War will go live on May 10th, next Tuesday.
