Namco Bandai has announced an action RPG, Dark Souls, which should be out at some point this year. It’s the follow-up to the acclaimed and innovative Demon’s Souls.
Coming on both Xbox 360 and PS3 formats, the game promises a “rich, dark fantasy universe”.
Very dark by all accounts, the world of Dark Souls being a vast, bleak and gloomy place, seamless and level-free with only occasional pauses for loading. Beacons of fire will be dotted about this inky realm, shimmering lights which players respawn at, and can gather around in multiplayer bouts.
Ground-breaking online features, tense dungeon crawling and fearsome enemies are promised, with some seriously slick looking boss monsters to take on.
Dark Souls is expected to be out later this year, probably in the last few months, just in time for Christmas.
