505 Games has announced that it will be publishing a massively multiplayer online real-time strategy game (or MMORTS, as they’re known) developed by Reverie World Studios.

Dawn of Fantasy features a persistent world and economy, along with a trading and diplomacy system which players can use to build an empire which will stand the test of time (although on their first go, it’s probably unlikely to stand the test of an egg-timer).

The online world will support thousands of players, along with AI controlled empires and story-driven encounters to spice things up. Player factions will take their armies and face off against each other in matched head-to-head battles.

Three races are available in the game; humans, elves and orcs, all with considerably different strengths and weaknesses.

Interestingly, Dawn of Fantasy has been designed with lower powered PCs in mind, so those of you with a venerable machine should still be able to enjoy the MMORTS action. A powerful map editor is also promised.

Konstantin Fomenko, CEO of Reverie World Studios, commented: “As we catch a glimpse of the finish line after many years of development, we are thrilled to announce our partnership with 505 Games.”

“Their dedication, ambition, and extensive history in the strategy genre will prove indispensable as we work toward completing our upcoming MMORTS.”

Dawn of Fantasy will be released for the PC on June 3rd.
