Drive-In horror book to be made into a film?
Here’s an interesting one that the guys over at Evil Avatar spotted, in an article on Entertainment Weekly talking about the Walking Dead writers being fired (or leaving of their own volition, depending on who you believe).
Further along in the piece, it mentions Greg Nicotero, the make-up effects supremo who created the Walking Dead zombies in all their half-chewed, limb scattered, gaping wide-mouthed glory (or should that be gory).
Apparently Nicotero, who played a couple of the undead on the show himself, might not be coming back to the series due to another project. Rumour has it that he’s hoping to direct a film of the Drive-In horror books, penned by Joe R Lansdale.
The Drive-In is the gruesome tale of folks who visit a drive-in horror marathon, only to find it turn real as they’re trapped in the movie theatre complex with no way to escape. And the only way to live, once the popcorn and coke runs out, is to start munching on each other…
We haven’t read the book we must confess, but apparently the rather thin sounding premise is very well realised – indeed, two sequels followed the original book – and we’d definitely be interested to take a look at this. Fingers crossed that something comes of the rumours.
