Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon trailers released
A pair of trailers have been posted up on YouTube, showing off the upcoming apocalyptic arcade shooter sequel, Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon.
One trailer shows off ground combat, and the other air combat, with the game guaranteeing some fast paced blasting action as you come under siege from legions of giant ants, wasps, spiders and so forth. Yes, spiders aren’t technically insects, so perhaps we should just say all manner of creepy crawly things.
EDF is set in a futuristic New Detroit, a city which is a completely destructible environment (half the fun is blowing up the town as well as the critters). The game’s campaign mode allows three players to team up to co-operatively take on the insect menace. There’s also a six player survival mode against a truly non-stop onslaught of bugs if that isn’t enough blasting action for you.
Players can choose from four armour sets and a mind boggling 150 weapons – although surely all that’s needed is a giant can of bug spray. And perhaps a big electric zapper thing like the ones they have in fish and chip shops.
However, the game does look like it’ll be some low-tech fun from publisher D3P. Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon will be out in the spring of next year on the Xbox and PS3.
