EA has announced that the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins will be released on March 11th next year.
Bioware’s Dragon Age 2 casts the player in the role of Hawke, a refugee from his desecrated homeland. His legendary story, which spans a decade, is followed by the game.
In terms of mechanics, the RPG is intending to take a more action oriented angle, with a faster paced combat, and a “striking” new art direction, apparently. There’s a new trailer to take a gander at on the official website here.
Mark Darrah, Executive Producer at BioWare, commented: “With Dragon Age 2, we are building on the outstanding RPG fundamentals the original delivered while taking the franchise in a new direction with faster, more responsive combat that will allow players to think like a general, but fight like a Spartan. We are giving the franchise’s gameplay a shot of adrenaline. We can’t wait to get the game in people’s hands so they can feel the difference.”
The only danger is that the game will be dumbed down by some measure, but we’re hoping that won’t be the case. BioWare is promising a dynamic storyline with ethical and moral choices, so at least the it’s not due for a lobotomy on that particular front.
