Deadly Premonition set for autumn release in UK
Rising Star Games has announced that it will be publishing the Xbox 360 survival horror game Deadly Premonition in PAL territories.
The game, which will be released over here in the autumn, has been out for a while in Japan and the States, where it has polarised critics’ opinions. It’s definitely a Marmite, love or hate game by all accounts.
Some have panned it for having terrible controls, pacing and sound effects, while others have effectively declared it an absorbing cult classic, with comparisons being drawn to David Lynch’s weird and wonderful Twin Peaks TV series.
The player takes the role of an FBI agent, investigating the brutal murder of a local girl in a rural American town. Yes, it certainly sounds very Twin Peaks, and apparently with just as strange and fascinating characters populating the town. Although whether it will have a dancing midget who speaks backwards, we doubt.
Martin Defries, Managing Director, Rising Star Games, commented: “Having seen how Deadly Premonition split reviewers’ opinions in America, gamers are itching to get their hands on it to judge it for themselves.”
“We have high hopes for what can only be described as the most distinctive survival horror game that has ever been released – it’s going to be interesting to see how the game is received over here. It’s a cult classic in the making.”
Deadly Premonition will retail at £24.99 and is coming out in the autumn. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one, as it sounds intriguing.
