EA has officially announced today that BioWare Mythic is to assume the operating and subscription service rights to Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.

WAR, as it’s known, was previously run by GOA in Europe, to the chagrin of some players who weren’t happy with issues such as server stabilities.

Mind you, if there’s one thing we learned in our lengthy spells playing games like EverQuest and Warcraft, it’s that MMORPG players are rarely a happy bunch on the whole.

Eugene Evans, General Manager of BioWare Mythic, commented: “We thank GOA for the tremendous job they did launching WAR in Europe and serving this dynamic community for the past two years.”

“Today, we’re excited to have the opportunity for BioWare Mythic to directly care for WAR players throughout Europe. We are committed to providing the highest possible level of service and maintaining the glory of epic Realm vs Realm battles for all European players.”

EA says that once the transition begins, access to the European servers for the game will be suspended for a period of between 48 and 72 hours as the new servers are brought online.

As a reward for being patient during the shift over, players will get two free weeks of play time – and even former subscribers will get this free fourteen days.

So if you left Warhammer Online a while back because of issues with GOA, you can always check back in and see how things are run under BioWare Mythic.
