Demon’s Souls loose in Europe
Namco Bandai’s critically acclaimed Demon’s Souls action RPG has been released in Europe.
It’s a PS3 exclusive title, so a no-go for Xboxers, and it boasts several novel elements. For example, other players can force their way into your campaign and attack you. Or more helpful sorts can leave clues for others to see and benefit from.
Indeed, bloodstains left by dead players can allow others to view a replay of their death, and heed the warnings therein.
Demon’s Souls is set in a blighted fantasy version of medieval Europe, and it promises a real challenge. Novice players will find even the very first level difficult, apparently, until they start to get to grips with the combat system.
It’s a return to the old school gaming in terms of its trickiness, complete with the hard knocks associated with it. Sounds intriguing.
As well as the single player campaign, there are also dedicated player versus player bouts available to partake of.
Demon’s Souls also comes in a limited edition pack, which contains extras such as a soundtrack CD, artbook and a strategy guide to help the flailing beginner.
The limited edition seems to cost the same amount as the standard game on Amazon, with both at £40, so you might as well plump for the one with the additional goodies.
